Please note: we can't guarantee the departure or arrival times of the bus for each of the brewery tours so please do not plan consecutive tours.

There’s nothing better than summer in San Diego, and there is plenty of beer events and fun stuff for you to do before the Conference begins: 8 brewery tours, a fantastic pub crawl, a beer-pairing breakfast and a beer-pairing dinner, a San Diego Bay beer cruise, a week of golf deals across the street from the hotel, and a bunch of “beer widow” events planned to keep everyone happy. Most events have limited space available—reserve your events today!

6/13 – 6/19 Golf at Riverwalk
Enjoy a round of golf at the Riverwalk Golf Club, a short walk from the hotel. The club is offering a special rate for NHC week (6/13 – 6/19) for conference attendees. Reserve a tee time anytime on Monday through Friday, after 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. Contact Riverwalk Golf Club directly at 619-297-4431 or groupsales@riverwalkgc.com to reserve your time. June 14, 10:00 – 15:00 Brewery Tour A – Ballast Point, San Diego Brewing Company, Coronado Brewing
Brewery Tour A will be a 5 hour/3 brewery tour, and will be visiting Ballast Point Brewing’s main brewery in the Scripps Ranch area first. Ballast Point has brewed many award winning beers, and is a mainstay in the San Diego craft brewing scene. Visit their website at http://www.ballastpoint.com for more information about them. The next stop will be at San Diego Brewing Company, head brewer Dean Rouleau is responsible for the World Beer Cup gold medal IPA, Hopnotic. Food will be served at this stop. The final brewery on this tour will be Coronado Brewing Company in the historic village of Coronado, including a trip over the beautiful Coronado bridge. June 14, 10:00 – 15:30 Stone Brewing Tour 1
Are You Worthy? Stone Tour 1 will be a 3 hour/1 brewery tour visiting the Stone World Bistro and Brewery. The 45 minute tour finishes with samples at the souvenir shop bar, followed by food in the bistro. You then have time to sample other beers and tour the beer garden on your own till the bus returns you to the hotel. Visit Stone’s website here: http://www.stonebrew.com. June 14, 13:00 – 19:00 Brewery Tour B – Lightning Brewery, Green Flash (new location), Rock Bottom La Jolla
Brewery Tour B will be a 5 hour/3 brewery tour, and will be visiting Lightning Brewery in Poway first. Lightning is one of the few craft breweries in San Diego that makes lagers on a regular basis, and also brews a wide variety of other styles. Lightning, though a relatively new brewery on the San Diego craft beer scene, has made a real impact on the local beer scene. Visit their website at http://www.lightningbrewery.com for more information about them. The next stop will be at the new Green Flash Brewing Company location. This tour will be the first tour open to the public before before the Official Grand Opening on July 23rd. That's right, you'll be some of the first people to tour Green Flash's brand spanking new facility before anyone else. READ MORE Green Flash is honored to be chosen as one of the craft beers to be served at the World Series, and head brewer Chuck Silva’s take on various beer styles, especially hoppy West Coast versions, have won numerous awards over the years. Rock Bottom La Jolla is a favorite of locals looking for good food and beer with a relaxing atmosphere. Head brewer Marty Mendiola has won numerous awards with his great beers. Join proprietor and beer renaissance man Tom Nickel with at least two beers apiece from Alpine, AleSmith, Ballast Point, Green Flash, Lost Abbey, Pizza Port and Stone along with a bonus keg or two from Russian River.

June 15, 9:45 – 12:15 Beer Pairing Breakfast
The Beer Pairing Breakfast will feature selections designed specifically for this event by Chef Axel Dirolf, the main instructor at the San Diego International Culinary School. The five courses are prepared by culinary students, and will include beer in the cuisine as well as paired with a craft beer from award-winning San Diego breweries to compliment the selection: San Diego Brewing, Alesmith, Lightning Brewing, Gordon Biersch, and Coronado Brewing. The breakfast will take place at San Diego Brewing Company, and additional beer selections will be available, including growler fills of house beers. This event is limited to a select number of your closest brewing companions, so early registration is critical! Transportation from/to the hotel is included.
Cost: $30/person.


June 15, 10:00 – 15:45 Brewery Tour C – Lost Abbey / Port Brewing, Pizza Port Carlsbad, Karl Strauss
Brewery Tour C will be a 5 hour/3 brewery tour, and will be visiting Lost Abbey / Port Brewing in San Marcos first. Lost Abbey head brewer Tomme Arthur is something of a legend in the San Diego beer scene for his work with barrel aging and alternative fermentation microorganisms. Visit their website at http://www.lostabbey.com for more information about them. The next stop will be at Pizza Port Carlsbad, not far from the beach in the scenic town of Carlsbad. Head brewer Jeff Bagby and his crew are responsible for an incredible number of award winning beers over the years. Delicious beach food will be served at this stop. Visit their website at http://www.pizzaport.com. The final brewery on this tour will be Karl Strauss, San Diego’s first craft brewery, dating back to 1989. We will be visiting their main brewery location, which opened in 1996. Karl Strauss brews an amazing number of beers throughout the year, including a number of seasonals and specialties. June 15, 30th Street Pub Crawl, Runs Continuously from 11:30 – 23:30

Voted the "Best Beer Street in the US" by Men’s Journal--you’ve just got to visit the 30th street corridor. We’ve arranged for specials including a wide variety of beers, meads and ciders, to special food pairings and discounts for NHC guests. Buses will be running every two hours from the hotel to the North Park area and back. Once there you can take the shuttle up and down the famed 30th Street district. Stops include Small Bar, Blind Lady Ale House, Toronado, The Linkery, Ritual Tavern, Sea Rocket Bistro and Hamilton’s. Within a short walking distance of many of these locations are other great participating pubs. There is so much happening in this area, you want to be sure to check out this event. June 16, 09:30 – 16:30 Beer Wives and Friends of Beer Geeks Wine Tour
If you’d like to take a break from ‘all things beer’ come and join us for a fun wine tour and tastings of the Temecula Valley wineries, located north of San Diego. The tour will include stops at three wineries, famous for their superb wines. Lunch will be included. Find out more about the region at: http://www.temeculawines.org/. We will leave from the Town and Country Hotel at 9:30 AM and return by 4:30 PM. The price for this trip inludes all transportation, wine tastings and lunch. June 17, 09:00 – 16:30 Day on Coronado Island
Join us for a tour of the fabulous island of Coronado including the famous Hotel Del Coronado, on Friday, June 17th. We will leave the Town and Country Hotel at 9:30 am and be transported to San Diego’s downtown harbor. A 20 minute ferry ride to Coronado Island will include scenic views of the San Diego Bay and skyline. After some shopping at the Coronado Ferry Landing shops, you will take a short walk to the Coronado Brewing Company where lunch will be served. After lunch, transportation will take you the world famous Hotel Del Coronado where you will be given a private 90 minute tour of the hotel and many of her amenities not accessible to the public.
